parachute

i let myself go
the way i sometimes do
when the height makes me dizzy
and i'm dazzled by the view

my bones were tingling
and told me to take
that leap of faith, told me
they needed a healthy break

and there in mid-air
i saw it all
how you turned round
and would not be there to catch my fall

but i've grown astute
from destitute leaps
so i pulled out
my parachute
