Afterthought

well you'd think i'd learn
from repeated mistakes i
think i even told myself "girl,
remember this" but
i think i just forgot
in the daze of it all
completely convinced it'd be different
this time around

yea that
intoxication is dangerous
when things are at stake
and i seem to forget virtue
whenever i'm in this state and i
think i've said it all before
but just as an afterthought:
maybe i should learn to converse

This Mountain

the way gravity pulls
it seems to pull so fierce
making it hard to climb up
and i'm struggling to keep
my head held high
trying not to drag my feet

and the times i feel full
i still try to be all ears
and steadily hold my cup
coz this mountain is steep
and its rivers are wide
and its constant humming disturbs my beat

with my eyes closed
i take it all in
coz if i open them
i'll be sucked right in
